I didn’t get essential proof tactics/strategies out of Lay’s so I plunged myself into Library and after looking up one after another, I finally found this book. It is about as title says and not about Analysis. The book does not cover as much as one expects from Analysis books. But many of them I’ve seen seem to fail on teaching “how to prove” to study Analysis.
Velleman uses structured style as a technique. Two columns are prepared. The left column is Givens and right Goal. By restructuring Givens and Goal using relationships and definitions, some parts of Goal statement is moved to Givens, like peeling skins of onion. This process iterates until one finds the proving obvious. The whole process is a “scratch work” and a reader is able to see how the author structures the proof step by step, both from Goal and Givens viewpoints.
In past, there was only a Macintosh proofing program, but now Java version called Proof Designer is out. So Windows and Linux users alike can now enjoy this little program in conjunction with the book. Two disappointments with Proof Designer are that the output is only in the form of a traditional proof style which does not expose “the scratch work” and that the program does not use the two column style used in the book.

Written by a professor, the book format is like a university course starting with a bit of of theory, some examples and then followed by many exercises to refine your skills. By having many exercises and scenarios you actually have to think about the problem you face, works out your solutions before actually using excel to implement your solutions. This is to me great because so many books taught people only which buttons to press.
As a business analyst this is a very helpful book covering a lot of grounds teaching you a lot of business knowledge and business analysis skills, the excel bit of it is just the implementation which is the right way to go about it.
The downside is the poor editing, while the content and organisation is top class, the presenting bit is simple pathetic and it makes you think of a boring lecture with white chalks on a black board. And yes, the course did not cover as much on themes and design features of Excel 2010.

Cloud could very well serve an excellent advanced text for physicists and chemists who wish to advance their knowledge in the fundamentals and application of electricity, magnetism and electrodynamics. The general content matter is at a slightly greater level than the famous text, “Classical Electrodynamics (3rd ed. )” by John David Jackson, though it leaves out aspects of relativity and relativistic electrodynamics of charges and currents. The first five chapters of the text lays exhaustively and systematically the foundations and fundamentals of electricity and magnetism in well defined symbols and notations and in a succinct and lucid manner.
Its greatest strengths are displayed in chapters six and seven dealing with integral equations in electromagnetics in general, with applications to many standard electrical devices in the latter part of chapter seven.
Every chapter is followed by an abundant set of problems, which furthers the understanding of the contents of the chapters. The text further carries an excellent set of appendices which includes topics like dyadic analysis, six pages of useful mathematical identities, and a discussion of various coordinate systems.
Properties and identities of three of the most common special functions (Bessel, Legendre, and Spherical Harmonics) are tabulated in detail, followed by a comprehensive bibliography of other published works on electromagnetism. All in all the book should serve an excellent text for doctoral students in electrical engineering and physics. Congratulations to the CRC Press for publishing such an excellent text.

However, they do list them in the Enemy List in the back. Other than that, this guide has everything, including all the Ultimate Weapons and Limit Breaks, every kind of Materia and useful combinations, a list of all the enemies, weapons, armors, and accessories, complete strategies to beating enemies, bosses, and mini-games, and anything else I might have missed…oh, yeah, and don’t forget how to raise Chocobos and how to get the 4 special kinds. It really couldn’t get better than this, and as far as the Enemy Skills go, if you don’t like to keep looking in the back of the book, just go online and print a nice list out from a site. Even those skilled and experienced in the “Final Fantasy” series NEED to get a guide, preferably this one or the one by Versus (they make excellent guides, especially for the “Zelda” series), otherwise they’ll miss all the secrets and things you would not be able to figure out by yourself.

It describes the process of upgrading “from scratch,” aka a “clean installation,” which normally is best for moving up from Windows XP. It also describes the process of moving up from Windows Vista (which didn’t apply to me), which does not require a “clean installation,” also the latter often is the best when changing operating systems, generally speaking.
In separate sections, the book also gives a very good overview of preparing for an upgrade to Windows 7, as well as the new features (including the stricter security protections) found in Windows 7. I will add that at first, the increased security protections took some getting used to in Windows 7. It was quite a nuisance at first when exchanging and zipping up game files between pbem (play by email) opponents, for example.
In short, this is a great book for anyone planning to move from Windows XP or Vista to Windows 7. In my case, the new installation was relatively painless and efficient, even considering that I had to reinstall all of my programs.

There are two shortcomings that bothered me. One is the lack of a table at the end of each chapter listing the other commands and functions that do almost the same thing as the ones covered in the chapter. This would increase this book’s usefulness as a reference. The other problem is the end of each chapter having an illustration of some interesting engineering project or concept. One claimed that Matlab could be used to drastically improve the fuel efficiency of motor vehicles. The other was a half baked political statement to the effect that you would be better off giving irrevocable control of your life over to a group of people who have a history of looking after their own interests first and others second.
